Tuesday, October 24, was the 5th annual World Polio Day. It was created to spread awareness about this preventable disease. The goal is to raise money to end polio worldwide – to help get vaccines to parts of the world that may need help getting the precious preventative.
Rotary International is the organizer of this humanitarian effort to get vaccines to children worldwide. According to the website they created for this special day,
Most know it as poliovirus. The virus is spread person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can attack the nervous system, and in some instances, lead to paralysis. Although there is no cure, there is a safe and effective vaccine – one which Rotary and our partners use to immunize over 2.5 billion children worldwide.
Chelsea Clinton tweeted about the day and anti-vaxxers lost their damn minds. Thanks, Jenny McCarthy. If we want to take vaccine advice from someone working in a field that has absolutely nothing to do with science, we will let you know… but, I digress.
Clinton tweeted about statistics surrounding Polio.

Anti-vaxxers were quick to take the opportunity to reply with their crazy ideas about science – and to attack Chelsea’s mom. Some people are just naturally more inclined to believe quack science found on the internet. These are the people who believe everything they read or see on television. I would call them idiots, but that isn’t really politically correct, is it?
If the government says you need a vaccine, than you should not get a vaccine. I don’t trust my government……period

I’m guessing that this man did get a vaccine or two in his life if he had responsible parents. I would almost wager a bet that he does not have Polio.

OK. That may have been the case decades ago when there were no vaccines. However, now you just have to get the damn shot. This Twitter user needs to take a science class.
There are too many adverse reactions in other health areas, please don’t vaccinate your child, they are not science experiments.

People like this watch too much daytime TV. They also should not breed.
No recorded case in the US since 1979 Stop trying to sell us on vacines. At the rate CGI goes through $ maybe u could spend some on causes.

I have no idea if this statistic is true. I’m not even going to research it. All I have to say is that it appears that vaccines work.
If only there were a vaccination against Clintonitis!!! We’ve suffered long enough.

And then there’s this because some people cannot let anything go.
Twitter is a lovely platform, but weeding through the trolls is tedious – Trump normally being the biggest troll. No matter how much awareness one tries to raise or how pure their intentions are, someone will poo-poo them… because some people are just assholes.
