A prominent gun control group in Massachusetts, Stop Handgun Violence, has launched a campaign to urge Trump and other lawmakers to mandate background checks for all gun sales. They also want Congress to renew the federal ban on assault weapons. The campaign is taking some heat from gun supporters because of the graphic images used.
On Friday, the group mailed fliers to the White House and around 300 members in Congress who seem to always side with the NRA no matter the tragedy. The fliers were styled as invitations, complete with RSVPs. On them are graphic photos from the mass shooting from Vegas in October. The group promises to post pictures of the reservations on their Twitter account.
The heading above the photos reads:
YOU ARE INVITED TO WIPE THE BLOOD OFF YOUR HANDS AND END MASS SHOOTINGS.
Another message on the invitations says:
RSVP BEFORE ANOTHER MASS SHOOTING.
There are two options on the invitation in regards to the RSVP. The best option is:
I WILL VOTE IN FAVOR OF BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR ALL GUN SALES AND RENEW THE FEDERAL BAN ON MILITARY STYLE ASSAULT WEAPONS.
That is the only reasonable choice. This is the choice that people with any sort of compassion or rationality should pick. There is rhetoric out there that gun laws won’t stop criminals. Drug laws don’t stop addicts, either, but they certainly deter people from getting what they want exactly when they want it.
The other option on the invitations reads:
I WILL CONTINUE TO PUT GUN LOBBY BLOOD MONEY ABOVE AMERICAN LIVES.
Under the RSVP choices, the group tells the invitees to “imagine if these are your kids.” Because let’s face it: other people’s kids dying is doing absolutely nothing to change these representatives’ minds. Put into a personal perspective, it may cause a change of heart. We won’t hold our breaths, though.
We know these images are shocking. But we could not continue to sit by and do nothing while people are dying. Congress and President Trump needed a graphic wake-up call. So we sent one in the mail. Check it out.

The images below are graphic, but they are real-life depictions of what happened in Vegas. The pictures are not taken from a movie set, and the victims are not actors.
