As if the American people weren’t getting screwed enough by Donald Trump and the Republican Party, Senator Marco Rubio says Medicare and Social Security are in the GOP’s cross-hairs.
Trump’s tax plan is going to add at least $1.4 TRILLION to the deficit while giving wealthy individuals and corporations a massive tax cut. The middle class and poor will get a mere pittance that won’t matter because the tax bill eliminates healthcare and education deductions.
Basically, the average American will get practically nothing from the tax bill while people like Donald Trump and his business empire laughs all the way to the bank.
And once Republicans are done raping America with the tax bill, they intend to target Social Security and Medicare next.
During an interview with POLITICO, Rubio stated that cuts to these two successful programs will occur so that Republicans can claim that they have paid for their tax cuts.
I analyze this very differently than most. Many argue that you can’t cut taxes because it will drive up the deficit. But we have to do two things. We have to generate economic growth which generates revenue, while reducing spending. That will mean instituting structural changes to Social Security and Medicare for the future. Tax reform is the economic component of this equation. When more people are working, there are more taxpayers and more revenue, but that alone won’t be enough. You are still going to have a debt problem in the absence of spending cuts.

Social Security and Medicare are crucial safety net programs that have helped millions of Americans remain financially independent and healthy for decades now.
Cutting either program would significantly harm millions of Americans and thrust many into certain poverty. And that’s not to mention that senior citizens have a difficult time getting health insurance from private insurance companies. Social Security and Medicare exist for those very reasons. They keep older Americans out of poverty and provide them with the healthcare they need. It’s an incentive to retire so there are jobs available for younger generations. It should also be pointed out that many of Trump’s supporters would be negatively affected by these cuts. They will not be immune just because they are Trump supporters.
If Republicans do this, it would break a major promise made during Trump’s campaign when he insisted that he would not touch either program.
But his tax bill cuts millions from Medicare already so his promises have already been broken.
