Representative Steve King (Racist Asshole-Iowa) is one of the most disgusting Republican lawmakers currently serving in Congress and apparently, his campaign staff is just as bad. On Sunday, the congressman’s campaign posted a meme of Emma Gonzalez, one of the Parkland survivors, that insulted her for wearing a jacket with a patch of the Cuban flag (her family’s country):
This is how you look when you claim Cuban heritage yet don’t speak Spanish and ignore the fact that your ancestors fled the island when the dictatorship turned Cuba into a prison camp, after removing all weapons from its citizens; hence their right to self defense.
The post, which obviously was meant to attack Emma’s heritage because King is a racist piece of shit, generated hundreds of comments condemning the congressman. One of those comments came from Brandon Wolf a survivor of the Pulse shooting who lost his two best friends, Christopher Leinonen and Juan Guerrero. Wolf slammed the congressman’s campaign, saying:
Are you SERIOUSLY mocking a school shooting survivor for her ethnic identity?! Do you losers have NOTHING else to do anymore? Have you lost the will to govern? Do you need a safe space from these teenagers? When it was my community, where were you? When it was Sandy Hook? Columbine? Were you on the sideline mocking those communities too? Did you question someone identifying as a mother? Did you question whether people like me were crisis actors? Emma stood for 6 mins and 20 seconds to honor the lives of 17 gone too soon. The least you could do is shut your privileged, ineffective trap for 6 seconds to hear someone else’s perspective.
Instead of just apologizing for the shitty post, King’s campaign started arguing with a survivor of one of the worst mass shootings our country has ever seen. Someone managing the page responded,”Uh, no…. assuming quite a lot, aren’t ya? – Team King.”
Brandon, an outspoken advocate for common sense gun reform, hit back,”No, I’m wondering whether this is a common trend for you or the fear of actually having to get something done on this issue has you acting irrationally. If you don’t want to debate the issues with her, fine. But let the woman express her ethnic heritage however she pleases without piping verbal diarrhea from Iowa. It’s not cute.”
And it went all downhill from there, the congressman’s staff called Wolf a “brainwashed lefty” and insinuated that he was an idiot:
Pointing out the irony of someone wearing the flag of a communist country while simultaneously calling for gun control isn’t ‘picking’ on anyone. It’s calling attention to the truth, but we understand that lefties find that offensive.
Eventually, a bunch of other people jumped on the thread and joined Brandon in shutting the morons who run King’s campaign down, but it was truly something else. For a congressman of the United States’ staff to attack not one, but TWO mass shooting survivors on Facebook is something to behold. Maybe if King fought for our safety as hard as his campaign trolls people on the internet, people like Brandon and Emma wouldn’t have to do his job for him.
The post, by the way, is still up on his Facebook page, everyone should go tell the congressman about himself.
