Rep. Blake Farenthold is furious with the University of Texas and is vowing to boycott the institution because they recently removed several Confederate monuments. Speaking to a caller during an interview on a Corpus Christi radio station, Farenthold was clearly triggered and angrily voiced his outrage.
I can tell you as a University of Texas graduate, I’ve never been more embarrassed for my school,” Farenthold raged. “They’re not getting another dime from me until those statues go up, and that includes football tickets or anything.
The University of Texas removed four Confederate statues following the white supremacist march in Charlottesville, Virginia, that left a counter-protester dead. After the removal of the monuments, university president Gregory Fenves released a statement that explained the monuments had been taken down because they are “symbols of modern white supremacy and neo-Nazism.”
“Erected during the period of Jim Crow laws and segregation, the statues represent the subjugation of African Americans,” Fenves added. “That remains true today for white supremacists who use them to symbolize hatred and bigotry.”
During the interview, Farenthold used the slippery slope argument to explain why we should continue to keep up monuments of traitors who fought against the U.S. in defense of their right to own people based on skin color.
“There’s a congresswoman from Houston whose name is Shiela Jackson Lee. I’m now only referring to her as Shiela because obviously, we don’t want to mention Jackson or Lee,” Farenthold said sarcastically.
The Texas representative also complained about Anti-fa wearing masks (which is apparently not okay unless your mask is white and pointy, but I digress). Farenthold slammed the group, which is known for standing up against white supremacists and Nazis, insisting that “if you’re not willing to show your face for your cause, that’s probably a good indication that there’s something wrong with your cause.”
