Star Trek: Discovery airs on CBS September 24 and Trump supporters are already screaming in outrage. The show is set in 2256 where the Federation and Klingons are in a Cold War-style standoff. Trump supporters are angry because the Klingons in the new edition of Star Trek are modeled after white nationalists. Maybe it’s just me, but if there is a television show that I don’t think I’ll enjoy or one I don’t agree with for whatever reason, I just don’t watch it. However, when has a Trump supporter ever been quiet about anything? People with the least amount to say are always the loudest.
Show writer Aaron Harberts stated,
The allegory is that we really started working on the show in earnest around the time the election was happening. The Klingons are going to help us really look at certain sides of ourselves and our country. Isolationism is a big theme. Racial purity is a big theme.
Some Trump supporters are freaking out on social media. Reddit users have lost their minds and we can do nothing but sit back and laugh at their outrage.
Liberals think Trump supporters are exactly what they are: people who are willing to overlook a president who is the most sexist and divisive man to ever hold the office.
Oh, of course someone would make a gay comment. If there’s anything Trump supporters hate more than liberals, it’s a liberal who is part of the LGBT community.
And another comment about sexuality. I am half-convinced that the people who make these types of comments are undercover sexual deviants. Anyone who is so hyper-focused on others’ sexuality has to have some sort of inner issues.
People will watch the show because it’s Star Trek and there are some amazing actors in the new cast. Modeling Klingons as Trump supporters is just icing on the cake.
I’m fairly certain that this commenter has never had a meaningful relationship and still lives in his mom’s basement. Sorry, guy, most women don’t like men who assume all liberal women are man-haters. The fact that he knew the name of the episode may also explain some of his hostility. Just saying.
While Trump supporters fume and refuse to watch the newest edition of a legendary television series, the rest of us will go about our regular viewing schedule. Let’s face it, Star Trek is in it for the long haul as are their true fans.
