Donald Trump’s childish tweets will be to blame if a government shutdown occurs, no matter how desperately he tries to blame Democrats.
On Tuesday, Trump was supposed to meet with Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer to discuss the budget in order to prevent a government shutdown in December.
But rather than negotiate in good faith, Trump took to derail and immediately derailed the meeting by insulting them and declaring that no deal can be done.
Meeting with “Chuck and Nancy” today about keeping government open and working. Problem is they want illegal immigrants flooding into our Country unchecked, are weak on Crime and want to substantially RAISE Taxes. I don’t see a deal!

Pelosi and Schumer were not about to waste their time meeting with a blowhard who isn’t serious about negotiating, so they canceled the meeting.
That left Trump in an awkward position because he intended to use the meeting as a photo-op, most likely so he can claim that he is “working hard” to get things done.
So, he posed between two empty chairs and told the press to blame the Democrats if the government shuts down.
“They decided not to show up,” Trump said. “They’ve been talk and they’ve been no action. And now it’s even worse. Now it’s not even talk. So they’re not showing up for the meeting.”
“We are very far apart because our views on crime and our views on immigration and the military — so many are different,” Trump continued. “We want our military funded and we want it funded now.”
Trump also claimed that the issues that would cause the shutdown include “illegals pouring into the country, crime pouring into the country, no border wall, which everybody wants.”
“I got elected partially because of the border wall,” Trump said.

It should be pointed out that Republicans control the White House and Congress, and no government shutdown has ever occurred while one party controlled the House, Senate, and White House at the same time.
In short, any government shutdown will be on the Republicans.
Nancy Pelosi slammed Trump on Twitter for the verbal abuse that caused the meeting to end before it ever got started.
.@realDonaldTrump now knows that his verbal abuse will no longer be tolerated. His empty chair photo opp showed he’s more interested in stunts than in addressing the needs of the American people. Poor Ryan and McConnell relegated to props. Sad!

Again, Donald Trump cannot seriously blame Democrats for a government shutdown when his own party controls both the legislative and executive branches. It’s ludicrous and shows just how desperate he is to avoid being blamed for hurting the country. Let’s not forget that Trump calls himself a “deal maker.”
Well, President Deal-maker just f*cked himself by derailing a meeting in which a deal would have been discussed and negotiated. That’s ALL on him. And so will the government shutdown if he continues to refuse to budge on his outrageous demands.
