Over the last few days, reports have started coming out that Donald Trump is telling White House staffers that he doesn’t believe the infamous Access Hollywood video is real. Trump can be heard in the 2005 video telling host Billy Bush that he sexually assaults women and gets away with it because he is a “star”:
You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.
The tape created a huge stir before the 2016 election and Trump even apologized for it, saying,”I said it, I was wrong, and I apologize.” He then went on a media blitz where he claimed he doesn’t actually sexually assault women, it was just “locker-room talk.” So, it is interesting that a man who never apologizes for anything is now saying the thing he apologized did not actually happen, but “Access Hollywood” isn’t letting him get away with it.
On Monday, host Natalie Morales responded to Trump claims and told viewers:
We wanted to clear something up that has been reported across the media landscape. Let us make this perfectly clear — the tape is very real. Remember his excuse at the time was ‘locker-room talk.’ He said every one of those words.
This is one of those times when you have to just shake your head and ask yourself,”What is the point of this?” We all saw the video, we know it happened; so what is the point? I can’t answer that other than to say he is truly the gaslighter-in-chief and this is what he does.
