Jill Wine-Banks is one of the three Assistant Watergate Special Prosecutors in the Watergate obstruction of justice trial against President Nixon’s top aides. She appeared as part of a panel on MSNBC’s All In With Chris Hayes. The panel discussed the House Republicans’ decision to stop the Russia investigation as it’s picking up speed. Hayes displayed a list of GOP key players who have not been questioned regarding the Russia scandal. Wine-Banks’ take: “they’re part of the cover-up.”
Some of the people on the list that Hayes presented were the former chief of staff Reince Priebus, lying troll and creator of nonsensical phrases Kellyanne Conway, Steven Miller, and Sean Spicer. Others include KT McFarland (Deputy National Security Advisor under Michael Flynn for the first four months of the Trump administration), Dan Scavino, Sam Nunberg, and Natalia Veselnitskaya (the Russian lawyer who met with Don, Jr, Kushner, and Manafort at Trump Tower about something).
Hayes stated that it was obvious that this list should have been some of the first people investigated. He asked Wine-Banks her take away from that fact. She said,
My take away is the majority are part of the cover-up. They don’t want the truth to come out. They want to cut this off to please the president. They are not interested in the American people getting the full truth — which is what we deserve. They need to have public hearings, they need to interview all of the people that are on this list. So it was premature and it is a cover-up to stop the investigation now.
She would know. She has worked with some of the biggest crooks and liars in American history.
