This week, Fox News host Sean Hannity went straight fanboy for Donald Trump after it was announced that he planned to meet North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. Hannity called to impending (maybe) meeting a “historic day by any measure” and praised Trump for the move, saying:
One consistent thing that we see as we look through history is that capitulation and appeasement never works. Peace through strength — it’s not just a slogan; it is a philosophy. And the only way to get respect is to stand strong in the face of tyranny.
The Trump mouthpiece claimed it was “a huge foreign policy win for President Trump. Little rocket man blinks.” Oddly though, a decade ago when Barack Obama was asked during a 2007 presidential primary debate if he would meet with the Jong Un to “bridge the gap” between the countries and Obama said “I would,” Sean Hannity could not handle it. Media Matters reports:
During the May 15, 2008, edition of his Fox News show, Hannity referenced Obama’s answer and asked former House Speaker Newt Gingrich: “After Hitler invaded Poland in 1939, before we were at war with Nazi Germany, do you think it would be wise — would have it been wise for us to engage in talks with him?” Later during the same show, Hannity asked former Republican Rep. Jack Kemp (R-N.Y.) the same thing: “After the Nazis invaded Poland, before we were at war with them, is it fair to ask the question, ‘Would you have met with Hitler in 1939?’ Would that be fair in this campaign to get a perspective of where he’s coming from, with the Obama doctrine?” On October 26, 2008, Hannity returned to Obama’s reply, calling it “one of the most disturbing displays of Obama’s lack of foreign policy expertise.” He then suggested that Obama would be “the new Jimmy Carter.”
Almost a year after Obama was inaugurated, Hannity was still pissed off that the 44th president had expressed the desire to mend the United States’ relationship with North Korea. While ranting about a letter Obama sent to Kim Jong Il, the Fox News host called the dictator Obama’s “new pen pal” and said,”I can only imagine that the president’s dialogue with Mr. Kim will be just as fruitful as his exchanges with the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.”
It’s not at all surprising that Hannity drank from his cup of hypocrisy on this topic, he is, after all, one of Trump’s biggest propaganda machines. President Obama could do absolutely nothing right in his opinion, while Trump can do no wrong. And we all know that the people who watch Sean aren’t going to go out and do research to see how much he has flip-flopped because they do not care about facts. It’s one of the reasons why Fox News fans are consistently the less informed than people who watch no news at all.
His entire show is just more proof that Fox News is a cancer on our country.
