Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh pledged that she would take 60 busloads of students to the March For Our Lives in Washington, D.C. on March 24. It’s a march to raise awareness of gun violence in our schools. The hope is that the awareness will cause lawmakers to impose stricter gun laws to protect our most valuable assets: our children. Not everyone is happy about it.
One entity not happy about the march is Fox News. They pander to the right and the ammosexuals in the country. For many Fox News’ viewers, the right to bear arms is the most important right. News anchor Laura Ingraham began to grill Pugh about why she wanted to bring that many students to D.C.
Pugh told her that her students wanted to “be heard.” She also said that transportation was provided to get them to the nation’s capital safely because her students reached out to her. Ingraham immediately started in on gun laws, stating that Maryland has some of the strictest gun laws in the country, despite their murder rate.
Maryland’s gun laws there seem fair to me. They can carry handguns with a permit and residents can open carry rifles and shotguns without a permit. I digress.
Ingraham quickly moved on when Pugh said that she didn’t know that was the case, that Baltimore’s murder numbers had been on the decline in recent months. Not being one to give up quickly, Ingraham then started attacking the mayor about statistics from Baltimore’s education system: a 10-year low in enrollment, a $130 million deficit for 2018, and 115 personnel layoffs.
Because the MAYOR of Baltimore is in charge of the state’s education system, Laura. I don’t recall seeing any pictures from the teacher strike in West Virginia being taken outside the mayors’ offices all over the state.
Ingraham tried to contend that the students were going to D.C. on the taxpayers’ dime. Pugh shut that shit down. She stated,
You need to get your facts straight, love. I don’t know whether you’re trying to become the communications director for the Trump administration–
Burn! Pugh called Ingraham out on the spreading of fake news. Pugh assured Ingraham that the money is coming from donations, not from taxes. Both women talked over one another trying to get their views heard. However, it was chaos.
Watch the exchange below – it was a shit show:
